Luna Azul is our second coffee from producer Andrés Cardona, and it’s a special one. Andrés was one of the first graduates of Unblended’s Young Producer Program and now serves as a mentor to new participants. He currently manages Villa Lucía, his uncle’s farm in Santa Bárbara, Colombia, where he cultivates varieties such as Castillo, Colombia, and Cenicafé. His curiosity and dedication to his craft have inspired him to explore innovative processing methods—something we at Everkind deeply admire.
The name Luna Azul, meaning “Blue Moon,” reflects the coffee’s striking notes of blueberry and dark chocolate. The process begins with a one-week open-tank fermentation in cherry. The coffee is then depulped without water, allowing the sticky, honey-like mucilage to remain intact. Finally, it’s dried on raised beds for 1–3 weeks, depending on the weather, until it reaches 11% moisture.
The result is a cup that bursts with flavors of blueberry, cherry, honey, and dark chocolate—another exceptional coffee from the talented Andrés Cardona.
